The Ilizarov method in 1950s (1955-1959): astonishment, failure to understand, objections of medical scientists

The authors continue presentation of the history of the Ilizarov method development. Its publication started in "Genij Ortopedii" journal (No. 3, 2002). In their study the authors have analyzed academician G.A. Ilizarov's works and scientific publications of the workers. They have also analyzed the materials of periodicals from the funds of the scientific-and-medical library and the scientific museum of RISC "RTO" development history at the department of scientific-and-medical information, the documentation of the scientific department and the scientific medical registry of the Centre. Moreover, the search work has been based on prepared by us and published fact-finding bibliographic index: G.A. Ilizarov [11, 14-16, 24, 31]. In this work readers will get to know the Ilizarov method development in 1955-1959.
