Method of modeling of backup algorithms to obtain analytical estimation of repository volume

This document describes the method of mathematical modeling of backup algorithms to obtain analytical estimation of repository volume. The paper also presents a survey of backup algorithms; these include traditional backup schemes and non-trivial ones. Authors present backup simulation results that evaluate the performance of the method. The approach could be used to implement forecasting system to predict backup repository volume. This technique of estimation of repository volume is also significant when designing and implementing novel backup schemes.
