Calculation of microscale system channel parameters by the method of moments

The paper presents the results of mathematical modeling of mass transfer processes in a microscale system, a microfluidic chip channel, during electrophoretic separation of substances. The method of moments is used to calculate channel lengths and analysis times required for adequate resolution of a two-component mixture. Models describing the influence of non-uniform sample distribution in the channel are discussed and analyzed. The estimates of convective flow rate profiles are given based on a set of the Poisson-Boltzmann equations under the assumption that there are no thermal field gradients in the channel.
