The article deals with the analysis of the role of the Socratic dialogue in the development of the communicative skills, the critical and creative thinking of students. There is demonstrated the technology of the use of the method while analyzing the thematic texts at the lessons of social studies for the possible approbation of the method by the teachers of the humanitarian disciplines in a similar way.
