To date, the experience and activities of large and developed residential areas, especially megacities, are of particular practical and scientific interest in the field of home improvement. For areas of residential development where urban planning and reconstruction activities are not expected, complex landscaping of courtyards becomes the only method of improving the environment and forming intra-block and courtyard spaces. In the conditions of intensive urbanization, the preservation and development of elements of the natural complex due to landscaping and flower design of courtyards becomes the most important factor in the formation of a comfortable urban environment, not only in ecological, utilitarian, but also in aesthetic terms. Today, when reconstructing existing urban areas with new buildings, the main attention is paid to the intensification of the use of developed urban areas. As a result, the improvement of house territories is limited, courtyards lose their recreational function, the area of green spaces is significantly reduced, and the ecological situation in the city is damaged. It is necessary to proceed from the fact that urban planning decisions on the planning and development of existing and newly developed urban territories should be based on mandatory regulatory requirements for the size of complex landscaped courtyards, including a full set of all functional sites and fragments. This study reveals the industry aspects of the methodology for determining the well-being of the local area at the level of municipal administration. The author offers an algorithm for calculating a complex indicator of environmental quality
