A procedure for evaluating parameters of parachute system deployment by initiators

The paper presents a math model for the motion of elements of a system comprising a parachute container cover, a link of the parachute system and a return vehicle (ignoring aerodynamic interference). The math model results were compared against experimental results from a scale model representing the reentry vehicle shape, with simulation of the parachute container cover jettison in ram air. Going forward, the math model discussed in the paper will allow determining design parameters of the system when designing parachute system deployment equipment.
