The methodological basis for victimization studies of crime: statement of the problem

The methodology of scientific research defines the way of cognition in science, a set of applied techniques and methods of cognition of the studied subject (phenomenon, process). The chosen methods of research contribute to the achievement of the goal, in its implementation and reliability of the results. Being an interdisciplinary direction in science, victimology is able not only to use private scientific methods of cognition, but also to develop its own branch methods that allow using them in the conduct of victimological research. Crime and its outcome, is a central problem in research not only in criminology, but is increasingly considered in victimological terms. The proposed article presents the intermediate result of the ongoing research on the formation of the methodology of criminal law sciences, in the context of the approval of the new nomenclature of scientific specialties (2021). The presented material is based on the author’s vision of the problem of the theory of crime victimological counteraction, within the framework of which the methodological tools of victimological criminology were developed.
