Despite impressive progress of the modern economic theory, it is extremely difficult to find effective solutions to existing problems of the economic politics using its basic theses. There is no unequivocal answer to the question of what educational service is and what properties it has. The concept of economic sociodynamics and the theory of patronized goods offer fundamentally different explanation of motives of state intervention in the production and consumption of goods and services. The article considers the possibility of application of the basic tenets of the theory to interpret the educational services definition.
