Methodological approach to assessing the effectiveness of regional investment activities based on Data envelopment analysis

Based on the analysis of the most common approaches to the assessment of the level of investment activity of regions and identify their weaknesses (subjective assessments, the potential for double counting, the lack of public statistical information, etc.) have been proposed methodological approach to assess the investment activity not only from the standpoint of volume of attraction, but from the standpoint of efficient use of investments in the regions. To do this, we suggest using the nonparametric Data envelope analysis method. The paper justifies the choice of input and output indicators and the analysis model used. Approbation of the methodological approach based on statistical data for Russian regions made it possible to identify effective and inefficient regions. The author defines the importance of applying the proposed approach at the regional level in the management of investment activity.
