The article proposes a methodological approach to selection of basic design parameters of a small spacecraft relating to a class of discrete combinatorics problems. Considered are requirements defining the appearance of a small spacecraft. Defined are design parameters that to the utmost determine the design concept of a small spacecraft and guarantee performance of the target functions. A solution to the problem of selecting the target equipment and onboard minimum weight support systems of a small spacecraft is proposed.
