This article describes about the methods of diagnostics, which are designed to identify features of speech development of children with phonetic and phonemic underdevelopment of speech in children of primary school age against the background of mental retardation. Phonemic underdevelopment is manifested in violations of phonemic perception and phonemic analysis and synthesis, which can be impaired selectively or simultaneously.
