In the article, existing and developed by domestic and foreignscientists at the present time, methods of preliminary investigation of traces of blood at the scene of an accident are considered. These methods allow solving diagnostic and reconstructive tasks in order to quickly obtain indicative information about the mechanism of the criminal event, which is necessary for constructing initial investigative hypotheses, forming an indicative portrait of the unknown perpetrator, and planning operational search actions.
