Methods of multimedia visualization in multi-display systems

The article describes a technology developed for video playback in multi-display systems. Multi-display systems are used in education, business, government departments, situation centers, command centers, control rooms, etc. These systems are usually used for multipoint videoconferencing or for displaying various types of multimedia, such as dynamic process development charts, histograms, cartographic information, 3d models of objects and their parts, simulation results presented as a video and other video materials. A new software video decoder is presented that processes data from streaming sources, like cameras and local or global networks. Differences between hardware and software decoders are shown, as well as limitations and aspects of using hardware decoders in multi-display systems. The architecture of newly developed software module, that displays videos from real-time streaming sources, is described.
