Interdisciplinary approach as the basis of research in cultural studies

The article is devoted to the identification of the reasons for the appeal of cultural scientists to an interdisciplinary approach. The author notes that in modern science since the middle of the twentieth century there has been a tendency to develop a comprehensive approach to solving a number of topical problems faced by society in the early XXI century, since the capabilities of one scientific direction are not always enough to study various aspects of a particular problem. In this regard, the boundaries of classical scientific directions are being blurred, and post-non-classical science offers interdisciplinary methods and approaches used by representatives of both the humanities and natural science. Further, the author identifies and analyzes the reasons for the appeal of cultural scientists to an interdisciplinary approach, including, in particular, the emergence of cultural studies as an interdisciplinary scientific direction, and the presence of different approaches to the definition of "culture", and the complexity associated with the description of the modern socio-cultural context. One of the tasks facing culturologists is to create a new scientific language that can adequately reflect the essence of the transformations taking place in the sociocultural space. In conclusion, it is emphasized that the heuristic of the interdisciplinary approach, which is one of the tools of analysis in cultural studies, is associated with its openness, since the researcher has the opportunity to choose the set of methods that corresponds to the subject of his study.
