The article analyzes the latest developments that have manifested themselves against the background of the widespread of a new viral infection in the dynamics and geographical structure of global commodity trade in 2020. Based on the recently (April 2021) published analytical and statistical materials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the main trends that have emerged in the system of international trade and foreign trade activities of the world's largest exporters and importers, which still control about 3/4 of its total value, are shown. At the same time, the IMF's quite optimistic forecasts for 2021 on the development of global output of gross domestic product (GDP) and international commodity exchange appear to be overstated and biased due to implicit advances to eliminate all emerging threats. The article presents the latest statistical materials, calculated data, first introduced by the author into the domestic scientific circulation.
