International cooperation of the region in innovative activity: directions, incentives, barriers

The article addresses the issues of cooperation in the innovation field as a special measure having the potential to cover a considerable number of problems in the innovative activity. The author shows that the participation of RF regions in international projects in the sphere of research-and-development activity is at a low level. Many enterprises do not participate in international projects and do not develop international cooperation in the innovation activity. In order to get a comprehensive view of international cooperation development in the sphere of innovation activity the author has developed tools for a questionnaire survey of the region’s leading innovation enterprises. The survey allows to discover the existing capacity of the innovation activity subjects for the development of cooperation, main barriers emerging in the development process, and current needs.
