International standards of simplified proceedings in criminal case

Modern trends in the development of criminal procedure in many countries show that it is being accelerated, since national systems have faced an increasing number of criminal cases brought to courts, longer criminal proceedings. At the international level, a number of acts were adopted that reinforce the principles of accelerated (simplified) proceedings, which had a certain impact on the Russian criminal procedure legislation. In this regard, of special interest is the determination of the adequacy of Russian criminal procedural law provisions in the implementation of the simplified forms of criminal justice to international standards. The main objective in improving the legislation in this direction is to guarantee the protection of rights and freedoms of participants in criminal procedure.
