International and Russian experience of exploring and preservation of underwater cultural heritage

This article considers the definition of "underwater cultural heritage", shows the international and Russian experience of underwater archaeological discoveries and reveals their significance for culture and history. The paper presents a priority option for the conservation of underwater cultural heritage in situ and substantiates the necessity to preserve the underwater cultural heritage in the form of wreck open for diving and underwater parks.
