International culture, art and folklore congress (Rostov-na-Donu, Russia)

From April 23 to April 27 Rostov-na-Donu hosted International Culture, Art and Folklore Congress (Art Exhibition). The event was organized by Southern Federal University (Russia), Selcuk University (Turkey) and MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage (Azerbaijan). The congress took place for the first time, and the subject matter of the speeches was sufficiently broad, aimed at development of the dialogue between countries. The reports were devoted to a variety of periods from the Middle Ages to the present. Many of the speakers touched upon the subject of national traditions transformed in applied arts, architecture, painting, weaving and other spheres of life in the current context. The cultural program of the congress included a «Turkish-Russian Art» Exhibition of craft, which was open on the first day and was represented by the Turkish delegation. On the final day, the participants were offered an excursion to the museum of Rostov-na-Donu and to the ramparts of Azak fortress. Summarizing the results, the members of the international organizing committee expressed their satisfaction with the outcome and a hope for further partnership.
