The author analyzes the characteristics of foreign experience of creation and development of the sector rental housing. The role of this sector in the provision of shelter. Consider the form of legislative regulation of the lease and the direction of public-private partnerships in the construction of non-profit rental housing. The way for government support of the housing sector under consideration in various countries and a set of measures developed by the Government of the Russian Federation, to promote rental housing in Russia.
