Intercultural communication and multiculturalism. Transnational competence in the era of globalization

In the framework of intercultural communication discussion, the author considers the principle features of multiculturalism as the main idea of the present time. In the epoch of globalization and information society we face such a phenomenon as transculturalism; concurrently, it is essential to develop a transnational competence that contributes to the elimination of misunderstanding between representatives of different cultures. The author emphasizes that it is important to study foreign languages when developing intellectual competences in the framework of personal intercultural competence.
