Within the territory of Northern Eurasia (the part of the continent located to the north of 40° of northern latitude) fossil resins in Mesozoic deposits are related mainly to Cretaceous and less to Jurassic and Triassic rocks. The peculiarities of the geological structure of fields and physical and chemical properties of fossil resins of Mesozoic age from various regions - Siberia, Transcaucasia, the Far East are considered in the article. In the study of resins, methods for determining hardness and fragileness, differential thermal analysis, infrared spectrometry, chromatography-mass spectrometry, pyrolytic gas chromatography, and amino acid analysis were used.
