The paper deals with the issues of exposing the main myths about the history of the Great Patriotic War. The first myth reflects the methods of falsifying the causes of this war, among which there are two main ones: the traditional concept of “preventive war” and the newfangled idea about “equal responsibility” of the USSR and the Third Reich. The second myth is aimed at rejecting assessments of the Great Patriotic War as a national, liberation, and just war. The third myth gives a distorted interpretation of the events and outcome of this war through propaganda “ducks” about the decisive role of the Second Front, penal battalions, and lend-lease supplies. The fourth myth was created by the authors of “alternative history” in order to denigrate the Red Army and whitewash the Wehrmacht. The authors of the paper also reveal the geopolitical goals and the general methodological platform of Russophobia.
