Myths and realities in the life of Russian mammal hunters on Svalbard in the XVIII - the first half of the XIX century

Preserved monuments of folk culture, as well as folk songs and traditions, recorded in written sources of the XVIII-XIX th centuries, make it possible to create representation about the outlook of mammal hunting participants in Svalbard. This in turn makes it possible to discern trends in the development of mammal hunting, to specify features of their organization and carrying out.
