Migration policy in the CIS countries: what is necessary and possible

The article considers specific features of the economic area, and particularly labour market in CIS countries, which are actually common for these economies. Demographic development in the past decades has predetermined a certain labour surplus in some countries and labour deficit in some others. This results in a free migration of labour across these regions under the conditions of visa-free entry rules in the area. The author discusses the possibility of minimization of the arising social and economic problems in both receiving and sending countries, and the measures for regulation of the migration flows to be taken at the state level.
