The migration situation in the Murmansk region in the light of implementation of Russian arctic interests

The Murmansk region is the Arctic region of Russia. Its plays a key role in the implementation of the Arctic vector of Russian national policy. The resource base of the Murmansk region is of strategic importance for Russia. At present, the infrastructure and production aspects of the territorial development of the region are of paramount importance. Despite this, human dimension issues in the Murmansk region are relegated to the background, which in the context of a long (since the 90s of the last century) population reduction threatens the achievement of the strategic goals of Russian Arctic policy. Today several problems have arisen in the region that negatively affect its territorial development. The sharpest of them is the migration decline of the population. The analyze of the current migration situation in the Murmansk region in the light of the implementation of the Arctic vector of state policy of Russia in the Arctic was the purpose of this study.
