We performed a microbiological skin testing of 94 children subdivided into two groups: group I (n=31) - control subjects, group II (n=63) - patients suffering from acute urticaria. Affected and unaffected skin areas were examined in children of group II. Bacteriological examination of the skin was performed using an extended set of culture media for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Cluster analysis revealed low levels of difference between microbial spectra in the loci under study. Significant difference between the detection frequencies of skin microbiota representatives was identified in patients of the groups I and II. An increase of the figure in question for Bacteroides spp. in children of group II in both loci and its decrease for Enterococcus spp., Bacillus spp. were identified in comparison with the control group. Comparison of microbial spectra in children of group II revealed increased detection frequencies of S. aureus and Peptococcus spp. within the affected area. Discovered changes in the skin microbiota of children with urticaria can influence the course of disease and thus imply therapy enhancement with symbiotic drugs.
