Micromorphological features of the nerves of the ovaries, uterus and lumbar surgical access for their blockade in domestic cats and dogs

It was established that innervation of the internal genital organs of female cats and dogs is carried out by the lumbar sections of the left and right border sympathetic trunks and the uterovesical part of the pelvic plexus.. The detailed characteristic of macro-microanatomical and histological structure of the extraorganic nerves of the ovaries and uterus was given. Peculiarities of histological constitution of periorgan nerves of the ovaries, uterus and vagina, as well as the connective tissue structures surrounding them in a domestic dog and a domestic cat were studied. The lumbar surgical access is proposed for blockade of lumbar sympathetic chains throughout their lumbar, cranial and partially caudal lumbar splanchnic nerves, ovarian and caudal mesenteric plexuses. A needle with a mandrill without a syringe is inserted in a meeting point of two datum lines. A horizontal line is a lateroventral edge of dorsal spine muscles and transverse processes of a vertebra, which serve as a unified sense-define anatomo-topographical orienteer. A vertical line should be traced perpendicularly towards the first one alongside anatomic-topographical projection acanthi of the fourth lumbar vertebra. In cases when acanthi cannot serve as an anatomic orienteer, a vertical line should be traced at the level of osteotopical projection of a lateral edge of acanthi of the fifth lumbar vertebra. A needle is pushed forward ventrally parallel with area of acanthi of the fourth lumbar vertebra so that it rests against the body of the vertebra. The depth of needle insertion in adult female mesomorphic dogs is from 5 to 10 centimeters, in adult female mesomorphic cats it is from 2 to 4 centimeters. As a body of a vertebra is achieved, a needle is pulled backwards, annexed with a syringe and of coagulative solution in volume of 10-15 ml for dogs and 5-7 ml for cats is injected on both sides of the body. While using the proposed access in vitro the painted latex solution spread in paravertebral and paraaortal areas, in the zone of location of lumbar cranial and partly caudal inner nerves, ovarian and caudal mesenteric plexus in domestic dogs and cats.
