World heritage of China in the context of tourism resource in the XXI century

The article discusses the topical issues of cultural and religious tourism in China. The author examines the main trends in the religious tourism development and its impact on the monasteries. Special attention is paid to the involvement of the cultural heritage objects in the turnover of the tourism industry. The paper denotes a new stage in the religious tourism development, generated by the modern conditions of the globalizing world.
