Introduction. The relevance of the research topic lies in the fact that missionary service in the remote settlements of the Salekhard Diocese represents one of the most important areas of church life in the conditions of the Far North. In a region where most settlements are located at a considerable distance from the diocesan center and lack permanent clergy, missionary activity becomes the only means of introducing people to the sacraments of the Church, worship, and the Orthodox tradition. Harsh climatic conditions, poor transportation accessibility, and the unique lifestyle of the local population require clergy not only to possess spiritual training but also to demonstrate exceptional dedication. Materials and methods. The study employed a comprehensive approach that combined both qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis. The source base of the research consisted of reports from the Salekhard Diocese on the activities of missionary centers and missionary trips carried out between 2011 and 2021. These materials provided structured information on the scope and specific features of missionary service in remote settlements. To gain a deeper understanding of the actual situation and to assess the effectiveness of missionary activities, personal accounts of clergy members with direct experience of interacting with Indigenous small-numbered peoples were also used. Data analysis was conducted through content analysis of documents and thematic analysis of interviews and personal narratives, which made it possible to identify key issues, challenges, and successful practices in missionary work. Research outcomes. Since 2011, the Missionary Department of the Salekhard Diocese has been actively providing spiritual care to residents of remote settlements and nomadic camps, despite severe climatic and logistical challenges. Priests from the three deaneries regularly travel to these areas, conducting religious services, pastoral conversations, baptisms, and participating in cultural events. Particular attention is devoted to working with the Indigenous peoples of the North, as well as with educational and social institutions. During the pandemic, part of the missionary activity moved online, although in-person visits continued whenever possible. Discussion and conclusions. The author concludes that the analysis of the missionary activity of the Salekhard Diocese from 2011 to 2021 demonstrates a steady expansion of spiritual outreach to the population in remote and hard-to-reach areas. The establishment of the Missionary Department ensured the regular performance of services and sacraments even under the extreme conditions of the Far North. The effectiveness of the mission is largely attributed to its adaptation to the region’s transportation specifics, interdepartmental cooperation, and the active involvement of clergy in social and educational work.
