The work is devoted to the definition of leading solar energy conversion processes by biogeocenotic cover of the southern taiga. For the territory of the Central Forest Biosphere Reserve (Tver region), based on multispectral satellite imagery (20 scenes) thermodynamic variables that characterize the main components of the energy balance of ecosystems are calculated. Using the method of principal components, from 100 thermodynamic variables (5 variables for each period, reflecting the consumption of energy through evapotranspiration, heat flux and the biological production) order parameters were derived the independent thermodynamic processes that govern the conversion of solar energy by biogeocenotic cover.
