The diverse and vital experience of the historical and cultural heritage of academician E.V. Tarle

The article is devoted to the actualization of the scientific and cultural heritage of the outstanding Russian historian and discoverer of unique sources, Academician E.V. Tarle who left his contemporaries instructive lessons on the problems of war and peace, the significance of the individual and the masses in the historical process, the role of the Russian people in critical moments of its existence, and took care of how to write a history book for children. Sources. When writing the article, the documents of the Russian State Archive of Social and Political History (RGASPI) were used: fond 88. Op.1. D.1051 – Transcript of the meeting of historians in the Kremlin in 1944. In the same place, among the documents of the Department of Propaganda and Agitation of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), there is an uncertified and uncorrected copy (2nd carbon copy) of a typewritten transcript of a transcript entitled: "Academician Tarle's report to the Academic Council of Leningrad University on the Role of Russia's Territorial Expansion in the 19–20th centuries." In the same file, there are incorrect transcripts of Tarle's report "On naval subjects in historical and fiction literature." The article is based on an analysis of the direct author's texts of E.V. Tarle's works, collected in the academic edition of his works (Moscow: Publishing House of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1957–1962). Methods. The author's texts of E.V. Tarle's major works, his scientific comments, and appendices have been analyzed to reveal the nature of the new historical sources introduced into scientific circulation and their coverage of various issues.
