Multireflecting time-of-flight mass spectrometer with an ion trap source

An electrospray ion source was coupled to a planar multireflecting time-of-flight mass analyzer. Ion packets were formed using an accumulating linear ion trap with axial ion ejection. Taking into account all ion losses the duty cycle of the trap exceeds 10 %. For the analyzer with a 20 m flight path, the resolving power reaches 50 000 in the full mass range mode and exceeds 100 000 in the multi-pass mode.
