The «5P Education» model as an innovative component of the development of a modern university

The article contains the analysis of data on the total number of students as well as on the number of those who entered universities as first year students in the Russian Federation for the period 2013-2019. The conclusions about possible problems of reducing the number of applicants and students in domestic universities were drawn which include the demographic crisis, competition with foreign universities, increasing attractiveness of education in colleges. Also for the same period an analysis of data on the total number of universities in Russia was carried out. Based on this analysis, conclusions were drawn about the possible reasons for the reduction in the number of higher educational institutions. The authors also presented definitions of the term “innovative activity”, and also gave the author’s concept of this definition. In the article they also identified the main functions of higher education institutions, as well as the main criteria for choosing a university for applicants. In addition, the authors developed and presented the «5P EDUCATION» model, which includes such components as: participatory learning, practice orientation, process approach, physical environment, personalized approach to learning. This model is an innovative component of the development of a modern higher education institution.
