The article reveals the decorative and artistic function of peasant crafts. The role of traditions underlying the folk culture is emphasized. The genre motifs included in the ornamental decoration are considered. The author asserts the indissoluble connection of man with nature, mythological and religious ideas inherent in traditional folk culture
