The article deals with the current problems of the welfare state development in the Russian Federation. The author carries out an original research of the three basic models of the state social policy -monetaristic, paternalistic and the welfare state model. The research results may help to expand the theoretical knowledge about the social processes in the society, and may be used in the social policy implementation by the public authorities.
