Modeling of energy exchange processes in agri-food systems

Бесплатный доступ

To withstand the challenges of climate change and the transformation of energy systems, combined with projected population growth, agriculture must adapt to the changes and produce more cheaper food, while reducing its dependence on non-renewable energy sources and preserving ecosystems. Expert systematization of existing mathematical models that study energy flows in agri-food systems, highlighting the potential advantages and disadvantages of using various modeling methodologies, is necessary in practice to critically assess the adequacy of modeling and forecasting system development. The future belongs to integrated modeling approaches to design and support energy efficient and carbon neutral agri-food systems. Such models will be able to better represent new energy technologies, integrate various modeling methodologies and include social, demographic, economic and climatic scenarios in a holistic forecasting system for both short-term and long-term evolution processes of simulated objects.
