Simulation of the operational mode of ion mobility spectrometer with Bradbury-Nielsen ion gate

To increase the resolving power of ion mobility spectrometer with Bradbury-Nielsen gate the simulations were performed. It was shown that depending on the gate parameters there is an optimal gate duration corresponding to minimal duration of the ion pulse at the maximal amplitude of the ion signal. The gate duration being fixed there is the optimal difference of potentials between neighboring wires of the gate that ensures minimal duration of ion pulse with its amplitude close to the maximal one. Influence of wires displacement on ions penetration through formally closed gate was considered.
