Modeling of static thyristor compensator in power supply system of electric arc furnace

The article considers results of static thyristor compensator (STC) modeling in Matlab medium. The authors present structure of power supply system model including mains transformer, reactor coil, electric arc furnace (EAF) and STC. The key feature of the presented model is block modeling mains transformer that makes it possible to allow for the influence of EAF operation modes on power network indices. Proposed STC model design implies increasing number of used filter compensating chains and thyristor reactor groups. Diagrams that demonstrate operation of major system units are given.
