The article is devoted to the excavations of the burial mounds of the multi-temporal burial field Kara-Arsha on the territory of Semirechie. First of all, the authors focus on the burials related to the era of early nomads. At the course of the study the interesting materials were obtained on the burial traditions and the material culture of the ancient population of the region in the Saka period. In addition, one inlet burials of the Early Middle Ages were revealed. In total, the burial mounds of the Saka period were characterized with quite stable and monotonous burial traditions. Some items of funeral inventory, represented by ceramic pottery and iron tools, allowed to determine the chronology of the investigated burial mounds between the second half of the 5th - the first half of the 2nd centuries BC.
