Youth subcultures in the transforming society

The article studies the role and significance of youth subcultures in the transforming Russian society, which natural manifestation is the simultaneous existence of often contradictory previous and recent values. So, in the period of social development young people, being the most vulnerable social group, create various subcultural movements and play a role of producers and power source of some social and cultural challenges. We consider destructive and countercultural concepts that are generated by admass society like “life style”, when a person acts as a consumer and chooses any subcultural movement. It is concluded that various youth subcultures are ambiguousness and uncertain, and among them there is no alternative to the main culture of modern society.
