In beef cattle breeding, genotyping of farm animals is used to establish the truth of the origin of breeding animals, with its help they identify carriers of hereditary diseases, and also carry out marker selection for genes associated with economically useful traits in beef cattle. Monitoring of the gene pool of Kalmyk cattle was carried out based on meat productivity genes. It was found that the proportion of carriers of the GHL allele exceeds carriers of the GHV allele by 18%. A predominance of the GHL allele with a high frequency (72%) was also noted. A predominance of the frequency of the CAPN1G allele was observed to be twofold with a high frequency of occurrence (67%). An analysis of the frequencies of genotypes of young Kalmyk breed animals for the TG5 gene showed that the maximum proportion of animals with the desired genotype was 26%. For the GH gene, the proportion of desirable genotypes is relatively uniform (36% - 44%), as well as heterozygotes (30% - 36%). For the CAPN1 gene, the proportion of animals with the desired genotype CAPN1CC is 34%, the frequency of the homozygous genotype CAPN1GG is high (52%), which not associated with meat productivity.
