The moral authority of the officers of the gendarmerie police railway departments of the Far East of the Russian empire at the turn of the Х1Х-ХХ century

Based on the analysis of archival sources, the paper examines the moral and psychological appearance of gendarmerie officials using the example of the staff of the gendarmerie police railway departments operating in the Russian Far East at the turn of the XIX - early ХХ century. The qualities set out in the regulations of the Gendarme Corps, which had to correspond to both the officer's gendarmerie ranks and non-commissioned officers, are revealed. It is concluded that the leadership of the Gendarme Corps made high demands on the moral character of its employees, which directly related to the employees of the gendarmerie police railway departments in the Far East of the Russian Empire in the beginning of the 20th century. Compliance with the requirements was extremely important, since it directly influenced the successful performance of the duties of the gendarmerie employees.
