The purpose of the analytical review is to summarize and systematize the data of modern scientific literature on the use of herbal remedies in the treatment and prevention of diseases of the postpartum period in cows, as well as morphological and functional changes in the organs of the reproductive system of females against the background of the use of herbal medicine. It has been proven that morphological and functional changes in the body in case of pathology of the reproductive organs in cows are characterized by a violation of the neuroendocrine system against the background of the development of a transient immunodeficiency state. It has been established that in the early postpartum period in cows with endometritis, the predominance of progesterone against the background of a low concentration of estradiol causes a weakening of the tone of the uterus, an increase in the period of removal of lochia, subinvolution of the uterus, as well as a decrease in the protective properties of the body against the background of a weakening of regenerative processes, ultimately leading to the development of inflammatory process. Histological methods revealed signs of the development of dystrophic, necrobiotic and necrotic changes in the epitheliocytes of the uterine mucosa. In the lumen of the uterine glands, accumulations of neutrophils, rejected epitheliocytes and a mucopurulent mass, desquamation and necrosis of the endometrial epithelium are observed. Phytopreparations obtained from stinging nettle, pale licorice, blue lupine, common bearberry, common yarrow, meadowsweet, walnut lotus, horseradish root, St John's-wort, medicinal chamomile, white hellebore, ortilia secunda are highly effective in the treatment of gynecological diseases of cows, do not cause undesirable effects and do not contaminate livestock products. Biologically active substances of medicinal plants, applied topically for therapeutic purposes, enhance the regenerative processes of the uterine mucosa, contributing to the rapid recovery of the endometrium. The systemic effect of herbal remedies is to normalize the neurohormonal status in animals.
