The changes of erythron depending on the type of the bone marrow infiltration in patients with non-Hodgkins lymphoma were studied before the onset of chemotherapy. We found that regardless of the aggressiveness of lymphoma, erythroid hypoplasia with dismaturation of erythroid germ developed, most profound in cases of diffuse bone marrow infiltration. In cases of focal infiltration, a clear link between the increase in the number of tumor cells and erythroid hypoplasia was seen in indolent lymphomas, but no such association was found in aggressive lymphomas. The changes of the bone marrow microenvironment were observed: myelofibrosis in half of the patients with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, smooth bone resorption - in 3/4, and virtually all patients had a decrease of the relative ratio of adipose tissue.
