Based on the field studies of the authors performed in 2009-2012, the conditions of soil formation and the features of the morphological structure and physico-chemical properties of the soils of the mountain meadows of the Northern Urals are characterized. It is revealed that from the positions of the new "Classification and diagnostics of Russian soils" (2004), the soils under study are classified into three different types: typical serogumus (department of organic-accumulative soils), sod-Podbury illuvial-ferruginous (alfa-humus soil) and lithochemia gray-humus ( department of lithosis).
