The author studies the safeguard of the Moscow Kremlin - a Royal residence (1886-1917) - as the main Moscow residence of the Russian Emperor, the Supreme power in Russia. The article describes the period when the monarch in the Moscow Kremlin was absent, but the status of the «main Moscow residence of the monarch» obliged the organization of special protection of the Moscow Kremlin, which was relevant to security structures. The author analyses the time frame from 1886 to 1917 (namely 31 years), as in 1886 Moscow Palace management was organized. It existed up to 1917 when the Russian monarchy was overthrown. This period of Russian history is characterized by strengthening of the revolutionary movement and terror aimed at physical elimination of Supreme power of the Russian Empire - the Russian monarch. The study ends with a period of the overthrow of the monarchy and the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II, because according to the order of the Provisional government all special services created for protection of the Russian Emperor and his residences (palaces) were eliminated. According to the author's viewpoint, such a study can assist in preparation for work in state service, guarding the Moscow Kremlin as an object of state protection, the residence of the President of the Russian Federation, both in the present and in the future. It may also influence the level of Patriotic upbringing, the quality of the military and historical work, and enhancing the positive traditions of the state protection of Russia in modern conditions, characterized by the increase of terrorist threat.
