The paper explores love motive in N. Gumilev's works. The motive of cathartic love in poetry of the Silver Age is compared to similar motives in verses by A. Pushkin. Both perceive love as a harmonizing element opposing the idea of sin and passion that stem from the dark side of a human nature.
