Muslim communities of capital cities of Russia in the XIV - early XX centuries

The article is devoted to the study of the history of the capital's Muslim communities, especially the ethnic composition and resettlement of Ummah members in Moscow and St. Petersburg, to the description of the most common occupations of the Tatars. A comparative analysis of the Moscow and St. Petersburg Muslim communities in the XVIII-beginning of the XX centuries is carried out, their specificity is determined. In addition, the changes occurring in the communities, as well as the growth dynamics of the Tatar diaspora in the pre-revolutionary period, are traced.
