A museum in the context of information ecology

This work is devoted to the museum's role in the ecology of the information space. There are some difficulties in the development of the information society (like an information explosion, decreasing quality of information, contamination and noising of the information space), and the author shows some relations between the ecological troubles in the information and cultural realms. At the same time, in the framework of the information and cultural policy of Russia, a museum has the essential role as a repository of information resources of national importance, and that demonstrates the strategic significance of the ecological aspect of museum activities in the information space. Making accumulation and translation of specific museum information with authentic and representative sources as its base, a museum contributes the ecologization of the information and cultural environments.
